This year’s May Bank Holiday weekend, 25th to 27th May 2018, will treat Edinburgh with The Edinburgh Craft Beer Festival again, packed with so much more than just beer!

The festival organisers “We are Beer” started back in 2013 in London as a showcase for some of the best-established craft beers and as a platform for new brewers to gain awareness. Since its inception the festival has expanded to include The Bristol Craft Beer Festival and The Edinburgh Craft Beer Festival.

In 2017 they sold 12 thousand tickets across all three festivals and this year they plan to exceed this with a massive 17 thousand craft beer lovers. But this festival isn’t just about the beer with great live performances such as Mogwai and Two Door Cinema Club as well as serving up a culinary storm with award winning street food!

The Biscuit Factory, Leith will set the stage for this world class line up of brewers, serving over 300 different beers from the USA, mainland Europe, Scandinavia and of course the best local produce; they really are creating a “global gathering of the finest breweries” more information on the brewers can be found here: edinburghcraftbeerfestival – brewers

The bar was set high last year but now, with increased capacity, organisers Greg Wells and Dan Sylvester plan to set it even higher! Showcasing 40+ brewers, pouring exclusive and brand-new beers, housing an audience of more than 3,000 people we know this is a festival that will not disappoint beer, food or music lovers.

Attendees will also have a chance to sample the winner of the “raise the bar” competition, where a panel of judges have blind tasted UK new commers to the craft beer world, giving the winner a chance to showcase their collection at all three festivals.

Music

With the musical line up they have in store, it won’t just be pontificating beer lovers. With Friday night opening with BBC 6’s Reggae master, Don Letts. Saturday being led by Olugbenga Adelekan, the bass player in Metronome, as well as the legendary Glasgow born Mogwai. The Sunday will build up to an epic finalé hosted by Two Door Cinema Club.

Food

In order to keep dancing and sampling the world class craft beers you’ll need some world class food to go with it; luckily for you We Are Beer have been working with The Pitt Market to create a special menu for the event. Other traders will be the carbon conscious Edinburgh Pizza Geeks, Barnacles & Bones bringing fresh sea fish & obscure cuts of meat, The Buffalo Truck who were the 2017 Scottish Street food winners as well as the simple earthy, lovingly prepared Indian food of Tuk Tuk.
